Tips:
If you are doing a stairway and hallway figure out your solution for the angle going around the corner and down the stairs. My husband made nifty blocks that worked very well. Also consider your tiles (decorative and filler) that will need to bend from the hallway ceiling to the stairway. We stapled those tiles to the ceiling fearing the glue wouldn't initially hold it well enough. You might consider finding the angle and pre-bending those tiles (although the staples worked well so that, too, is an option).
Describe Your Project:
I decided to redo the stairway and hallway in our 100+ year old home, but didn't want to spend too much because I insisted on doing it by myself (to show my husband I could do it). I feared I would screw it up so I went with the less expensive glue up tile (rather than authentic tin). I ended up asking for his help with the ceiling because he has wayyy more patience than me and I wanted it done right. It is so beautiful (because of the angles I think the pictures don't really do it justice). When I tell people the tiles are plastic and the molding is styrofoam they are astounded. My husband made the pieces at the top of the stairs - the molding did not "meet up" because of the multitude of angles - 90 degrees to go around the corner and 45 degrees down the stairs. It truly is stunning. I'm not sure which impressed me more - the ease of installation, the low cost of the product or the beauty of the finished remodel.
Would You Recommend This Project To A Friend And Why?:
I would (and have) absolutely recommend these tiles to friends. We have a number of tin ceilings in our 105-year old home and love the look. The price for these tiles was about 1/5 that of tin tiles and they look spectacular. Some spaces just don't require high dollar solutions and this was one of those spaces!
How Was Your Experience With Our Company And Why?:
We had no problems with any part of it. The molding corners we ordered for the crown molding didn't come in the original shipment but a quick phone call fixed that right up.
